Advice For The Mom To Be
Things You Need:
*One journal/book
*One pen
Instructions:
At the start of the baby shower when everyone has taken a seat. Ask everyone to write a piece of advice, wisdom, or a joke on how to deal and cope with being a new parent. One idea is to let her know what days you are available to baby sit. (ha ha!) Hand the journal to the mother to be's mother then to her mother in law. (since it will also be their first grandchild from their daughter or daughter in law.)
*In the invitation you might want to let the guests know what you
are going to do. So they have some time to prepare what they would
wish to say.
De vine Diapers
Things You Need:
*Diapers (one for each guest)
*One Sharpie
Instructions:
At the start of the baby shower when everyone has taken their seat. Ask everyone to write a piece of advice, wisdom or a joke on the diaper. So when they wake up in the middle of the morning to change a diaper they might read one that says "I bet you it doesn't stink as much as yours did when you were little. Love Mom."
*In the invitation you might want to let the guests know what you are going to do. So they have some time to prepare what they would wish to say.
Baby Gift Bingo
Objective:
To get a full card of bingo from all the gifts the mother to be received.
Things You Need:
*Photocopies of the blank bingo cards (one for every guest)
*Pens (one for every guest)
*Magazines or something hard for the guests to write on
*Three prizes
Instructions:
Ask the guests to write a different gift in each box of the bingo card, that they think the mother to be will open as a gift today. Every gift she opens that they have written down they mark off the square.
*Remind the guests they might want to start with the gift they bought for her. ex .stroller, sleepers, recieving balanket
The first three guests to call a full card wins.
All Scrambled Up
Objective:
To unscramble as many words in the time allowed.
Things You Need:
*Photocopies (one for every guest.)
*Pens (one for every guest.)
*Magazines or something for the guests to write on.
*Three prizes
Instructions:
Hand out photocopies, magazines and pens to the guests. Tell them they have three minutes to unscramble as many words as they can. When the time is up, ask everyone to stop. Read the answers and have the guests check their own sheets. The three guests with the most right wins
How Big Is Mommy
Objective:
To guess how big the soon to be mothers belly is.
Things You Need:
*A basket
*A small roll of yarn or string
*Scissors
*Two prizes
Instructions:
Tell the mother to be to stand up and turn around a full 360 degrees. Then tell each guest they are to cut off as much yarn as they think will fit around her belly. When everyone has their yarn cut, ask the mom to be to stand. You will take the yarn and measure around her belly and cut. Then go around with the yarn and measure it up to everyone's. The two people with the closest length wins.
Mums The Word
Objective:
To take as many clothespins or diaper pins from other guests by catching them doing or saying what is "Mums the Word".
Things You Need:
*Clothespins (one for each guest)
(To jazz up plain clothespins I painted mine white and tied little
satin bows on them.)
Or
*Diaper pins (one for each guest)
*Two prizes
Instructions:
When each guest arrives give them a clothes pin. Tell them once everyone arrives you'll let them know what it is for and ask them not to lose it. When everyone arrives let them know they are not allowed to say a certain word such as "baby" or "mom" (or an action like crossing their legs.)If a guest catches another guest saying the word they get their clothes pin or clothes pin (even the ones they have taken off of other guests). The two guests at the end of the shower with the most clothes pins wins.
Guess That Food
Objective:
To guess as many baby foods by looking.(no smelling or tasting)
Things You Need:
*A marker
*Baby food 10 to 12 jars
*Pens( one for each guest)
*Piece of paper(one for each guest)
*Magazines or something for the guests to write on.
*Two prizes
*Suggestion to buy foods that look the same. ex. carrots-squash, raspberries-strawberries, peas-green beans
Preparation:
Remove the labels carefully (try not to rip the label . You'll be taping it back on for the mother to be to use after the baby is born.) Write a number on the inside of the label and the same number on the bottom of the jar. ex. carrot label #1 and the bottom of the jar you write #1.
Instructions:
Hand out papers and pens. Pass the jars one by one to the guests. Let them look but not open. Have them write down what they think it is. Retrieve the labels and match them up with the corresponding jars. Have the guests check their own answers. the two guests with the most right win a prize.
It's All In The Pillow Case
Objective: For guests to try and guess what baby items are in the pillow case.
Things You Need:
*one pillow case
*Ten to Twelve baby items such as : a bottle, rattle, rubber duck,
pacifier, diaper, teething ring, ointment tube, comb, brush, nail
clippers, and booties etc.
*Pens (one for each guest)
*Paper(one for each guest)
*magazines or something for the guests to write on.
*Three prizes
Instructions:
Hand out the papers and pens. Pass the pillow case around letting the guests have about thirty to forty seconds to feel the items. Have them pass the pillow case to the next guest and write down what they think they felt. When everyone is done, take all the things out of the pillow case. Have the guests check their own papers and the three with the most correct win a prize.
Name It
Objective:
To make words from names the guests have chosen for the baby.
Things you need:
*Pens (one for each guest)
*Paper (one for each guest)
*magazines or something for the guests to write on
Instructions:
Hand out the papers and pens. Ask the guests to choose one boy name and one girl name for the baby that is on the way. (If the sex of the baby is known ask them to choose a first and middle name.) Once everyone is finished choosing their names then explain that they are to try and come up with as many words they can make out of the letters of the names they have chosen for the baby. They will have five minutes to complete. If the names are too short too bad.
Example: Mary / Steve
Sam, tram, set, meets, smart, ram, vet, tar, stream, meat, and so on
The Hidden Baby
Things You Need:
*Enough plates for the guests
*A marker to write on the bottom
*One prize
Instructions:
On the bottom of a cake plate or food plate write the word baby. Once everyone is finished eatin.Ask them to look under their plate for the word.The one who has the plate that says "baby" wins.
